Salary range: $13.78/Hour

Location: Beeville, TX

Department: Parks and Recreation

Hours: Seasonal / Full-Part Time / Non-Exempt

Start date: Pending the results of an inteview and a pre employment drug screen.

Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

Plans, directs, and coordinates activities at the City Pool.  Hire and supervises lifeguards, purchase supplies for pool, responsible for time sheets and work schedules.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide direction to lifeguards
  • Possess CPR Certificate
  • Supervise personnel in the facilitation of all programs
  • Enforce and administer the Rules and Regulations of the City Pool
  • Manage and budget revenues and expenditures
  • Plan, coordinate, direct and evaluate the work of the City pool employees

Basic Functions:

  • Hire lifeguards
  • Facilitate the Red Cross Certification courses for potential employees
  • Deal effectively and courteously with the public
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

           ESSENTIAL WORK HABIT:

•      Regular Attendance in a workplace environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

     KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Public Health Regulations
  • Knowledge of Red Cross Regulations
  • Knowledge of Safe work practices
  • Excellent observational skills
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies
  • Ability to maintain control and handle emergency situations
  • Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public
  • Ability to perform water safety and lifesaving techniques
  • Effective leadership
  • Problem solving

MINIMUM REQUIRES FOR EMPLOYMENT

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATION

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
    • Valid TX Driver’s License or available alternate means of transportation.
    • Must possess current certificates for Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard training, CPR for the Professional and First Aid for the Professional and to have served as an Assistant Pool Manager for one year
    • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background investigation

Physical Requirements:

  • Working conditions are primarily outside with frequent exposure to inclement weather. PROLONGED PERIODS OF BEING OUTDOORS
  • Ability to move about an office or building.  Ability to transport self from building to

building and to attend various functions and meetings at other sites either within or outside the City.

  • Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate a computer, telephone and related equipment.
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to communicate effectively.
