Criminal Investigations Division 

Detectives are criminal investigators often specialize in specific crimes, such as crimes against persons, property crimes, death investigations, sex crimes, narcotics crimes, cybercrimes, against white-collar crimes. 

The fundamental job functions, include: 

Crime scene investigation

  • Witness interviews 
  • Report writing 
  • Record keeping 
  • Courtroom testimony 
  • Preparing arrest warrants 
  • Writing probable cause affidavits 
  • Preparing and executing search warrants 
  • Arresting criminals
